More Than Disney Magic

Each time Chris and I went to Disneyland, we would make a reservation to eat breakfast at Carnation Cafe. It was one of our favorite traditions! We loved enjoying a delicious breakfast together on Main Street.

When I found out Carnation Cafe was going to reopen just in time for our trip, I was so excited! I wasn’t able to get reservation online since they’re so difficult to get, but I crossed my fingers that me and the two kids would be fortunate to get a reservation when we got to the park.

A couple of days into our trip, I was looking on the Disneyland app and somehow came across a reservation for Carnation Cafe for the next morning. I couldn’t believe it! I couldn’t wait to take the kids to the same restaurant their dad and I loved to go to.

We entered the Disneyland park the next morning ,and as we got closer and closer to Carnation Cafe, I found myself looking for the exact table that Chris and I sat at on the patio the last time we were there. I started debating in my head whether or not  I should request to be sat at “THE” table . I imagined in my mind how special it would be if we all got to sit there together, but quickly decided we would just take what they would give us.

The host called our name and asked us to follow her to our table. We followed her inside the restaurant, then headed out the doors to the patio seating. I remember thinking…. “No way, out of all of the tables here, would we end up at “THE” one.” She kept walking, then eventually put the silverware and menus down at a table. “Is this good for you all?” she asked me. And of course I replied that it was perfect because she had sat us at the exact table where Chris and I sat and enjoyed what would be our last breakfast together at Carnation Cafe. I couldn’t believe it. Of all of the tables in the entire restaurant, we got sat at THIS table. Not only did we miraculously get a reservation, but we got sat at THIS table!

I started to doubt a little… “Is this really the table?” I pulled up the old photo on my phone, examined the background and every possible angle the picture could have been taken at, and there was absolutely no doubt that it was this table.

The last time Chris and Hailey ate breakfast together at Carnation Cafe.

Chris felt so close as I explained to Lorelei and Kaz what had just happened. After eating, I kindly asked our waiter if he would take a photo of us. He replied that there were current restrictions against him being able to do so. I understood and explained to him why I asked. Then this sweet, kind cast member demanded that he take the picture of us together. He said, “You just have to have this picture taken. This is too special.” And he quickly and sneakily snapped a shot of us three. I’m so grateful to our kind waiter for capturing this miraculous experience.

We have many unforgettable memories from Disney, but this was definitely one of the top. Not only did we experience some Disney magic that day, but we experienced magic that came from a higher source. I’m so grateful that my Heavenly Father allows Chris to give us experiences like this to remind us that he’s never far away, because I know Chris orchestrated this gift to us.

Chris, we are so happy that we got to #meetyouatdisney.
